84. Meeting Walt
“I thought we were going home,” I said.
“I want you to meet a friend of mine,” Rumi said. “I’ve not seen him in a long while. He is waiting in here.”
He pointed to a snug izakaya with its sliding wooden doors drawn carefully tight against the night air and its windows glowing yellow and warm. It was packed with happy, animated people.
We went in and saw him in the back in his great beard, drinking tea and holding two seats for us.
“Walt!” Rumi said.
“Come! Let’s celebrate ourselves, and sing ourselves,” Walt said.
We ordered sake.
