89. Yes, We Have No Anchovies
This is where we bought all those anchovies, two years ago right after we moved to Hayama. We were back to forage the hills behind the town for fukinoto (butterbur buds) and, fingers crossed, hoped to pick up another basket of the little fishes on the way back to Tokyo.
But there were none. The fishmonger apologized for that. But there were ise ebi (spiny lobster), a ray of some kind, and lots of sazae (Horned Turban snails) at a reasonable price and one late season inada, or young Yellowtail we took home and ate raw with fukinoto no tempura.
