93. The Weirdness That Makes Tokyo
On the way home, with some skewers of chicken, we stopped by a florist who keeps a pond of goldfish cemented into the pavement in front of the shop.
If you are at a florist’s shop, a goldfish pond seems weird.
If you are watching fish swimming in a pond on the sidewalk, holding a bag of chicken skewers seems weird.
But this is Tokyo where weirdnesses cancel each other out: It’s all weird and not-weird at the same time.
I mean, why wouldn’t you find goldfish at a florist while walking home with a bag of chicken?
