A tour of my larder after two years in Japan. 4/4
There are lots of small jars of condiments and such in the fridge door. These don’t say as much about living and eating in Japan as the main shelves do, though I will be honest and tell you that butter and sake have a large presence in our household.
But as you’ve seen, we mostly keep preparations in the fridge. Fresh food we buy almost daily from the local shops, which turn over their inventory quickly. I think that’s more common here than back in Vancouver or Toronto.
